Colleges and universities offer post secondary education. There are many types of colleges and universities.
Trade Schools
These schools are privately owned and provide career oriented training. They are not accredited by one of the seven regional accrediting bodies in the United States, but they may have professional/trade accreditations.
Two-year colleges
Two-year institutions go by several names – Junior Colleges, Technical Colleges, and Community Colleges. Today, the most common term is community college, but regardless the designation, they tend to be similar in many ways.
